CAMP INFORMATION

We regularly visit camps in Brandenburg and speak to the people there. That is how we get to know many problems, which the asylum seekers living there are facing, then we build networks and give support for all the different types of issues. The camps in Brandenburg are many times very isolated places, sometimes even without phone and internet connection. Refugees have difficulties paying the train and bus tickets to come to places like Potsdam and Berlin where they could find support, counseling and empowerment. Many asylum seekers are living for many years in the camp, they have to share rooms with up to five people, toilets with up to 100 people. There is no privacy, no space of retreat. Their situation is already extraordinarily stressful, because they don’t know what will happen next, what decision will be taken over their life.
